All meetings are held in the Methodist Church, Loughton High Road, from 8.00pm usually on the second Thursday of the month, from October to May inclusive.
Guest visitors are welcome at all meetings on payment of a donation of £2.50.

Talks are subject to alteration, sometimes at short notice, if, e.g., a speaker is unwell. If you are travelling from a distance for a particular talk, please telephone or e-mail first. Please supply an
e-mail address, wherever possible as this is how we notify any last minute changes to talks. Refreshments are available before some meetings. This will be announced at the preceding meeting, but please telephone if you need confirmation.

2019

October: Thursday 10 Only a Short Walk from Walthamstow Central CHRIS POND A history of Walthamstow village and its area, which Chris has known all his life, and in that time has developed from small workshops and run-down houses to chic gentrification.

November: Thursday 7 Pies & Mash and Prefabs NORMAN JACOBS Norman lived first in Hackney then in Loughton. He talks about his life in the 1950s and 1960s.

December: Thursday 12 Members' Evening of short talks and a Social with Christmas Refreshments.

2020

January: Thursday 9 Local(ish) Archaeological Digs LES CAPON Archaeologist Les describes the finds and history uncovered by excavations undertaken in Waltham Abbey, Dagenham and Wood Street, Walthamstow.

February: Thursday 13 The Essex River JANET SEWARD The River Roding from source to estuary – Mole Hill Green via Loughton and on towards Barking Creek.

March: Thursday 12 Buckhurst Hill LYNN HASELDINE JONES Picture perfect views depicted by old postcards of Buckhurst Hill, collated and described by Lynn.

April: Thursday 16 (third Thursday) The B–Z of Street Furniture in London ROB KAYNE What happened to ‘A’? Perhaps it represents: ‘A’ light-hearted look at some of London's iconic and not so well-known street furniture, illuminated by Rob in this talk.

May: Thursday 14 Annual General Meeting followed by Chris Pond showing photographs of old Loughton, mostly from the Helen Kay collection. In June there will be a Sunday walk around these locations.
