The Community & Youth Centre is thriving and is in use most days with either groups offering various activities to Theydon residents or with families using it as a party venue. It’s a joy to see this fantastic building in use after standing empty for so many years. Anyone walking in the hall cannot fail to be impressed. The Theydon Youth & Community Trust are currently looking after the day to day running of the building.
If you would be interested in helping on the management committee, please e-mail us at [email protected].
We are also looking for anyone who would be interested in carrying out odd-jobs at the Centre, again, contact the above if you are interested or call us on 01992 815982.
Below is a list, with contact details, of groups that are currently using the Centre. If you would like to book the centre, please contact Karen Collins on 01992 812295 or e-mail the above.

Theydon Youth are enjoying their new home; the Youth & Community Centre. Having the extra storage space has allowed them to have extra equipment. Most of which has been donated by Theydon Bois residents. We have been donated a table-tennis table, DJ Decks and a table football game and received a very kind donation from Theydon Bois Baptist Church, all most gratefully received!
We have now had a phoneline fitted and hope to be able to offer internet use as another activity soon.
In the New Year we are going to be expanding by having a Junior night on a Wednesday for children aged between 8 and 11 years old. We are currently looking for helpers for this night, child protection and first aid training will be offered to anyone interested.
In January Theydon Youth will be three years old and I am glad to say that we are still attracting new members and going from strength to strength.
We are attending the Essex Youth Council Presentation Night which is for all Youth Clubs in the area and will give the results in the next publication. We are taking part in a Jack Petchy Scheme, alongside the Essex Association of Boys & Girls Clubs (EABGC), which is offering help and advice to improve Youth Clubs and Youth Opportunities. We have also been lucky enough to have an Apprentice Youth Worker, helping out on Theydon Youth nights as part of his apprenticeship with the EABGC.
If you would like to be part of the rota of helpers for either Junior or Senior night at Theydon Youth please send an e-mail to the above or telephone Thea Buisson on 01992 815982.
